Back at Aisha`s, going to the beach and meeting Han

Mom and I decided to go to Aisha`s place for an osmanish kebab. We were greeted with hugs and kisses by Aisha and her husband Gilad.

They are so lovely! We ordered an osmanish kebab to share, and it was of course the best we have tasted. I will give this restaurant a 9,5 out of 10 on my review. We have been here so many times, we are treated as members of the family! And it only cost us 29 turkish lire.

The next day we were back at the beach

And I think I looked good in my new bikini:

We had a lot of contact with a waiter named Han, and he always treated me and mom as royalty!

When urinary retention is the problem

I have struggled with overactive bladder and urinary retention for many years, and I made a post about how I overcame overactive bladder. Now I will write some more about urinary retention.

Urinary retention is characterised by poor urinary stream with intermittent flow, straining, a sense of incomplete voiding, and hesitancy (a delay between trying to urinate and the flow actually beginning). As the bladder remains full, it may lead to incontinence, nocturia (need to urinate at night), and high frequency.

I would recommend kegel exercises. They increase the strength of the muscles that control the bladder – as well as the uterus, small intestine and rectum.

Try bladder training. I wrote about it here: How I overcame overactive bladder

Apply pressure over your bladder, massage the lower abdomen to promote full emptying of the bladder.

Self-catheterization: if an ultra sound shows that you have a lot of urine left in the bladder after emptying, you can try self-catheterization.

Be open with your doctor, remember that urinary retention can be caused by lots of different things like prostate growth, a spinal cord injury, blockage, bladder or kidney stones or constipation.

There are medications for relaxing the bladder and urethra muscles and help with prostate enlargement.

Surgical options like urethral dilation and stretching can be done if needed. There are also surgeries as a last resort: prostate surgery, internal urethrotomy and a cystocele or rectocele repair for women.

Sacral neuromodulation with mild electrical pulses for the nerves that control the bladder and the muscles of the lower pelvis related to urinating, can be an option.

My best tip is flaxseeds. They help sooth the lining of the urinary tract and this makes it easier to empty the bladder. You can put them in a smoothie or on your yoghurt, or simply take a spoon a day. This has really helped me.

Summer Love Restaurant, new mattresses and new bikinis

My mom and I went to Summer Love Restaurant. We decided to share a shrimp casserole. We were the only guests, as the season was coming to an end. The starters came quickly, bread with olives and dips. Then the most delicious casserole I have tasted was served.

The manager Halil, was in a good mood as always, and treated me and mom as princesses!

I will give this restaurant experience a 9 out of 10 on my review.

The next day, mom and I went shopping for new mattresses for our beds. We ended up in a furniture shop in Oba, and bought two new mattresses:

We have never slept like this before, it was an awesome feeling.

We also needed new bikinis, and we found a great clothes store in Tosmur with beautiful bikinis:

How I overcame overactive bladder

A few years ago, I was really struggling with overactive bladder (OAB). Overactive bladder syndrome is common. Symptoms include an urgent feeling to go to the toilet, going to the toilet frequently and sometimes leaking urine before you can get to the toilet (urge incontinence).

I had to go to the bathroom at least 20-30 times a day, sometimes more than 50, and it became a huge social problem for me also. I remember in 2013, when my mom and I travelled to Gran Canaria, we went for a walk to a shopping mall. I had been to the bathroom 5 minutes before. Then we actually had to stop in the middle of the street for me to pee in between two cars. I have never been so embarassed in my life. I want to tell my story and share some helpful tips if you are struggling with this as well.

Ever since I was a child, I have had this problem. I have also had urinary retention, and had problems emptying the bladder. This was discovered on an ultra sound, when I had 300 ml of urine left in my bladder after I had just been to the bathroom.

I have spent some years bladder training, and I can now say that I am cured of overactive bladder. After my weight loss surgery, I have also noticed a great improvement, so if you are suffering from OAB, try to lose weight if you are overweight.

Schedule times to go to the bathroom, at first every two hours. Then try every three hours. Try everything to keep this schedule. Emptying the bladder everytime you feel the urge, and also pressure out the urine, is the absolute worst you can do. This will make your bladder overactive.

Be hydrated, but not over hydrated. Also do not stop drinking to keep from going to the bathroom, as this will cause irritation and will make you go even more.

I have experienced that too much smoking and alcohol drinking is making the problem worse, so try to quit if you can. Also too much caffeine is a negative thing, as it functions as a diuretic. A couple of cups a day, that is all you need.

Pumpkin seeds is very effective in treating overactive bladder. Take a spoon every day, it has really helped me.

Kegel exercises: Kegel exercises strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, which support the uterus, bladder, small intestine and rectum. You can do Kegel exercises, also known as pelvic floor muscle training, just about anytime.

I have tried three different meds for OAB, which I am no longer on after all the lifestyle changes I have made. But if you are suffering, maybe you need to talk to your doctor and try out medication.

I also do not need botox anymore, but I have tried it twice. This can be a good help to those who are suffering. As a last resort, there are surgeries to enlarge the bladder. But as a former sufferer myself, I will say try everything else before you do this.

Make sure you get tested for hormone levels, as a low estrogen level can cause symptoms of OAB. I have been on estrogen myself, but I no longer need it.

I will make another post about urinary retention, which I have also struggled with in the past.

Remember that there is always hope, no matter how hopeless the situation looks right now. I am free from OAB, and I thank God for it every day, and you can be free too, but there is a lot of work to do.

I also suffered from urge incontinence, and that has gotten a lot better after I trained my bladder and lost weight. I have also tried out this medication which has a lot of pumpkin seeds and cranberries in it. Maybe it can help you as well.

Mitos Restaurant in Oba, ice cold pool water and mandarines

We went to Oba to find a place to eat. We were shocked to see how few guests there were at the restaurants. I remembered back in May we walked by a restaurants which was full of guests and we were trying to find that place. We ended up at Mitos Restaurant. There were some other guests, and we found a place to sit. Mom ordered red wine, I ordered water and the starters came.

The main meal was a stew called Gullas, which was mushrooms, onions, wine sauce, cream cheese served with garniture. We ordered a stew for us to share, and they came out with two huge plates of food. It was one of the best meals I have had in Turkey, but unfortunately I was not able to eat all of it. Sometimes, when I have such lovely food in front of me, I regret the gastric sleeve surgery.

On the house, we got a plate of fresh fruit.

The manager came over and introduced himself. His name was Mustafa. He claimed to know hundreds of families in Norway, and said he would travel to Norway soon. He was nice enough to drive us home after the meal. I will give this restaurant 9 out of 10 on my review.

When we first came to Dim Villa, I really wanted to swim in the pool, but the water was extremely cold. We went swimming still, and I got an UTI, which was quickly treated, but I stopped swimming in the pool after that. Here are some pics:

We were happy to see that all kinds of fruit was growing on the trees at Dim Villa. Mom picked mandarines that tasted great.
