SOLSIDEN Restaurant in Oba and back at the market

After church service in Oba, we needed something to eat. We discovered SOLSIDEN Restaurant by the main street. They obviously catered to a Norwegian crowd, and some waiters even spoke Norwegian too. It was late in the season, so there was not a lot to pick from on the menu. We asked if they had shrimp casserole, and they did not. So we ended up ordering an osmanish kebab to share.

It was a bit bigger than the other kebabs we have had. Also not as tasty as at Aisha`s. But overall a good restaurant experience. I will give it a 8,5 out of 10 on my review. The starters were great, with dips, olives and garlic butter and turkish bread. And the stew itself was very good.

The next day we were back at the market, and we bought more dried fruits and also some extremely cheap vegetables and cheese. We recommend everybody to go to the market for food, because they also let you taste before you buy, and the prices are great.

Mitos Restaurant in Oba, ice cold pool water and mandarines

We went to Oba to find a place to eat. We were shocked to see how few guests there were at the restaurants. I remembered back in May we walked by a restaurants which was full of guests and we were trying to find that place. We ended up at Mitos Restaurant. There were some other guests, and we found a place to sit. Mom ordered red wine, I ordered water and the starters came.

The main meal was a stew called Gullas, which was mushrooms, onions, wine sauce, cream cheese served with garniture. We ordered a stew for us to share, and they came out with two huge plates of food. It was one of the best meals I have had in Turkey, but unfortunately I was not able to eat all of it. Sometimes, when I have such lovely food in front of me, I regret the gastric sleeve surgery.

The manager came over and introduced himself. His name was Mustafa. He claimed to know hundreds of families in Norway, and said he would travel to Norway soon. He was nice enough to drive us home after the meal. I will give this restaurant 9 out of 10 on my review.

When we first came to Dim Villa, I really wanted to swim in the pool, but the water was extremely cold. We went swimming still, and I got an UTI, which was quickly treated, but I stopped swimming in the pool after that. Here are some pics:

We were happy to see that all kinds of fruit was growing on the trees at Dim Villa. Mom picked mandarines that tasted great.

Market in Oba, M&M Restaurant, meccolar and bananas

We went to the market in Oba, which is every Monday. We bought a lot of dried fruit like mangoes and papayas, and we bought a ton of underwear. My mom also got a new carpet for our home in Dim Villa.

I sometimes have to slightly push my mom to buy things because she always says that she will get it the next time. Then when I get something, she gets a bit jealous and says ” I wish I had bought that.” So I pushed her a bit to get the carpet, and she was so happy that we bought it.

I wanted to get some new dresses, and we found this lady from Usbekistan who sold everything from fashion dresses to beach wear. She was so lovely and we ended up with 4 new dresses. She also kept saying how much she loved us!

After we were done at the market, we needed lunch. We went to M&M Restaurant in Oba. A friendly waiter named Adim greeted us.

We asked for one portion of pasta carbonara to share and that wasn`t a problem. The food tasted really great. I will give this restaurant 8,5 out of 10 on my review.

After the visit in Oba, we went to the beach in Tosmur. There were some german and russian guests, but we were the only ones from Norway. The Mustafa Beach Bar had now become a part of meccolar.

I had a cheeseburger and I could only eat half of it, so I took the other half with me home. Mom had her favorite, chicken shish. It only cost us 39 turkish lire.

We had seen at the market that it was season for bananas, and we saw some on the beach too.

And of course, in the beautiful garden at Dim Villa, there were bananas. They needed some ripening, but it was a beautiful sight. I ate a lot of bananas as in between meals also. I am happy that I can eat bananas again. I definitely need carbs, and it is a great source for healthy fruit sugar.

Struggling after gastric sleeve

Today I contacted my dietician Elisabeth Sofie Birkeland because of my struggle with diarreah and vomiting. She told me to stop drinking Fresubin protein drinks and stop using Protifar protein powder, because this could lead to the problems I was having.

She told me it could be a good idea to start making smoothies again, so I blended cottage cheese, yoghurt, blueberries and bananas into a very tasty smoothie. I am so happy to be eating fruit again!

I am also drinking lots of water, as long as it isn`t carbonated.

But the weight is coming off and I am happy about that!

Summer Love Restaurant in Tosmur

We went out to eat in Tosmur, and this evening we chose Summer Love Restaurant. It is a very nice place and always shows sports on TV, so it attracts a lot of sports fans.

For starters we got the turkish bread, two dips and olives. We ordered white wine, which tasted very good.

My mom got a delicious meal of chicken shish, my dad got a very tasty shrimp casserole and I got fried calamaris. After the meal we got a plate of fresh fruit.

Our waiter, Genjay, fell in love with mom!

Mango smoothie

I love smoothies and when I was at home celebrating my birthday, I made a mango smoothie for me and mom.

What you need:

1 mango

dates

3 bananas

frozen mangoes

soy milk or almond milk

Blend and enjoy the amazing taste of cold mango!

I am now starting my diet before the gastric sleeve surgery, and that means no fruit for 14 days! So I ate what I could before starting the diet. Here are some of the fruit I bought at Global Food:
