IMG_5890

We celebrated Norway`s National Day at Bistro Dolphine`s in Tosmur outside Alanya. They had a special celebration night for Norwegian tourists. We so appreciate everything they had put into this for us! First we went to the Norwegian church in Oba so we were filled with the Holy Spirit… We also met our favorite taxi driver Sukru!!

Then back at Bistro Dolphine`s…

Here are the amazing men working at Bistro Dolphine`s: Yunus, Ramazan, Omer, Hassan and Ahmet!

The food was delicious as always:

And then there was fireworks!

All in all, the perfect night for us! I will give this restaurant experience a 10 out of 10 on my review! We definitely came back many times, and will in the future. If you are in the Tosmur area, please stop by this wonderful restaurant! The best food and best service ever you will find here! Thanks to Bistro Dolphine`s for making this a very special night for Norwegians!

Kokoreç & Kumru in Oba

More and more of the restaurants in Oba had closed down, and mom and I were looking for a place to eat. We discovered this restaurant by the taxi central, and we ordered meat balls, a portion to share. It was a pleasant experience, and the food was tasty. I will give this restaurant an 8 out of 10 on my review.

They didn`t have much on the menu, but we wanted meat balls. The staff were very friendly, and it didn`t take long to wait for the food.

Antep Sofrasi in Oba

After we were done at the market, we needed some coffee and something to eat. We stopped by Antep Sofrasi, a lovely little restaurant by the market.

We ordered a Turkish pizza, which was delicious. The coffee also tasted very good. I will give this restaurant 8 out of 10 on my review.

And it only cost us 12 lire! (For the pizza)

After we came back to Dim Villa, we had an in between meal with some of the stuff we bought at the market: avocado, radish and cheese:

Disappointment at Bistro Dolphine`s and church service in Oba

We went back to Bistro Dolphine`s and asked if they could make a shrimp casserole for us to share. This was no problem.

The shrimp casserole was delicious, but after my gastric sleeve surgery, I was only able to handle this:

Then a guy who called himself “Jackson” came and introduced himself. I had never seen him before. He said he was looking for a girl to be his girlfriend to teach him some Norwegian, and asked if that could be me. When I wasn`t interested, he made comments that were rude. I had in one hair extention, and he walked around saying my hair wasn`t real. I really hope the guys at Dolphine`s fire this guy before he ruins the experience of other restaurant guests in the future.

After the meal, the father of Yunus offered to give us a ride home. This was great! I will give this experience an 8 out of 10, but as I wrote earlier, I hope they fire this guy “Jackson.”

The next day, we were in Oba for church service. It was a really nice time. After that we walked about the empty streets of Oba, seeing the different restaurants closed down for the season.

Mitos Restaurant in Oba, ice cold pool water and mandarines

We went to Oba to find a place to eat. We were shocked to see how few guests there were at the restaurants. I remembered back in May we walked by a restaurants which was full of guests and we were trying to find that place. We ended up at Mitos Restaurant. There were some other guests, and we found a place to sit. Mom ordered red wine, I ordered water and the starters came.

The main meal was a stew called Gullas, which was mushrooms, onions, wine sauce, cream cheese served with garniture. We ordered a stew for us to share, and they came out with two huge plates of food. It was one of the best meals I have had in Turkey, but unfortunately I was not able to eat all of it. Sometimes, when I have such lovely food in front of me, I regret the gastric sleeve surgery.

On the house, we got a plate of fresh fruit.

The manager came over and introduced himself. His name was Mustafa. He claimed to know hundreds of families in Norway, and said he would travel to Norway soon. He was nice enough to drive us home after the meal. I will give this restaurant 9 out of 10 on my review.

When we first came to Dim Villa, I really wanted to swim in the pool, but the water was extremely cold. We went swimming still, and I got an UTI, which was quickly treated, but I stopped swimming in the pool after that. Here are some pics:

We were happy to see that all kinds of fruit was growing on the trees at Dim Villa. Mom picked mandarines that tasted great.

Market in Oba, M&M Restaurant, meccolar and bananas

We went to the market in Oba, which is every Monday. We bought a lot of dried fruit like mangoes and papayas, and we bought a ton of underwear. My mom also got a new carpet for our home in Dim Villa.

I sometimes have to slightly push my mom to buy things because she always says that she will get it the next time. Then when I get something, she gets a bit jealous and says ” I wish I had bought that.” So I pushed her a bit to get the carpet, and she was so happy that we bought it.

I wanted to get some new dresses, and we found this lady from Usbekistan who sold everything from fashion dresses to beach wear. She was so lovely and we ended up with 4 new dresses. She also kept saying how much she loved us!

After we were done at the market, we needed lunch. We went to M&M Restaurant in Oba. A friendly waiter named Adim greeted us.

We asked for one portion of pasta carbonara to share and that wasn`t a problem. The food tasted really great. I will give this restaurant 8,5 out of 10 on my review.

After the visit in Oba, we went to the beach in Tosmur. There were some german and russian guests, but we were the only ones from Norway. The Mustafa Beach Bar had now become a part of meccolar.

I had a cheeseburger and I could only eat half of it, so I took the other half with me home. Mom had her favorite, chicken shish. It only cost us 39 turkish lire.

We had seen at the market that it was season for bananas, and we saw some on the beach too.

And of course, in the beautiful garden at Dim Villa, there were bananas. They needed some ripening, but it was a beautiful sight. I ate a lot of bananas as in between meals also. I am happy that I can eat bananas again. I definitely need carbs, and it is a great source for healthy fruit sugar.

Dinner at Osman`s Place in Oba

After church service, we walked back to the main street in Oba, where most of the restaurants are. We went to Osman`s, and were greeted by Mervan:

We have been there before, and you can read about it here:Osman`s Place in Oba

We thought we would give the restaurant a new chance.

There was free wifi, and I asked Mervan to put in the password for me. We noticed there were no other guests in the restaurant, and the whole evening we were there, we were the only customers.

I was a bit disappointed with the fried calamaris compared to the other restaurants we have been to. My parents shared a pizza and liked it. After the meal we had bailey`s coffee, cheese cake and ice cream.

We went home, and later in the night I started getting Snapchats from a stranger.

The sender later revealed himself:

I must say that this was very unprofessional by Mervan. He added me to his Snapchat when I gave him my phone for the wifi password! Because of this, and the whole experience, I cannot give this restaurant more than 5 of 10 on my review.
