Alcohol after gastric sleeve

I have had alcohol problems in the past, but now after my gastric sleeve surgery, I cannot handle it anymore. This is a good thing really. I have been going to NA meetings, and I recently celebrated 90 days sober.

When I try to drink, I vomit immediately. It doesn`t matter if it is beer, wine or liquor. We are going back to Turkey in May, and this time it will be a sober time for me.

It is tempting to drink alcohol there because it is everywhere and very cheap, but I will not mess up my sobriety this time.

Kokoreç & Kumru in Oba

More and more of the restaurants in Oba had closed down, and mom and I were looking for a place to eat. We discovered this restaurant by the taxi central, and we ordered meat balls, a portion to share. It was a pleasant experience, and the food was tasty. I will give this restaurant an 8 out of 10 on my review.

They didn`t have much on the menu, but we wanted meat balls. The staff were very friendly, and it didn`t take long to wait for the food.

Disappointment at Bistro Dolphine`s and church service in Oba

We went back to Bistro Dolphine`s and asked if they could make a shrimp casserole for us to share. This was no problem.

The shrimp casserole was delicious, but after my gastric sleeve surgery, I was only able to handle this:

Then a guy who called himself “Jackson” came and introduced himself. I had never seen him before. He said he was looking for a girl to be his girlfriend to teach him some Norwegian, and asked if that could be me. When I wasn`t interested, he made comments that were rude. I had in one hair extention, and he walked around saying my hair wasn`t real. I really hope the guys at Dolphine`s fire this guy before he ruins the experience of other restaurant guests in the future.

After the meal, the father of Yunus offered to give us a ride home. This was great! I will give this experience an 8 out of 10, but as I wrote earlier, I hope they fire this guy “Jackson.”

The next day, we were in Oba for church service. It was a really nice time. After that we walked about the empty streets of Oba, seeing the different restaurants closed down for the season.

Mitos Restaurant in Oba, ice cold pool water and mandarines

We went to Oba to find a place to eat. We were shocked to see how few guests there were at the restaurants. I remembered back in May we walked by a restaurants which was full of guests and we were trying to find that place. We ended up at Mitos Restaurant. There were some other guests, and we found a place to sit. Mom ordered red wine, I ordered water and the starters came.

The main meal was a stew called Gullas, which was mushrooms, onions, wine sauce, cream cheese served with garniture. We ordered a stew for us to share, and they came out with two huge plates of food. It was one of the best meals I have had in Turkey, but unfortunately I was not able to eat all of it. Sometimes, when I have such lovely food in front of me, I regret the gastric sleeve surgery.

On the house, we got a plate of fresh fruit.

The manager came over and introduced himself. His name was Mustafa. He claimed to know hundreds of families in Norway, and said he would travel to Norway soon. He was nice enough to drive us home after the meal. I will give this restaurant 9 out of 10 on my review.

When we first came to Dim Villa, I really wanted to swim in the pool, but the water was extremely cold. We went swimming still, and I got an UTI, which was quickly treated, but I stopped swimming in the pool after that. Here are some pics:

We were happy to see that all kinds of fruit was growing on the trees at Dim Villa. Mom picked mandarines that tasted great.

Travelling to Turkey, Bistro Dolphine`s and new bikini (BODY SHOT)

Helloo! I am now back home from Turkey, and will start adding content from that trip. It was my 6th time in Turkey and it was just me and mom this time.

It takes about 10 hours to travel from my home to Alanya, but it was a great journey. We ordered chips, spicy tomato juice and salad on the plane, and it was also time for my nap.

The first night out we ate at Bistro Dolphine`s in Tosmur. We were greeted with hugs and kisses by Yunus:

They had absolutely no problems giving us just one portion of food to share, so they are gastric sleeve friendly. The portions in restaurants can be quite big, so mom and I decided to share one portion, because I can`t handle a lot of food after my surgery and mom also wants to lose some weight. The starters were bread with dips and olives and also spring rolls! Very tasty. We then had fried calamaris. Everything was delicious! I will give the experience a 9 out of 10 on my review.

I had some white wine, and I thought I could handle alcohol after the surgery, but it really wasn`t working. More on that in another upcoming post. Life after gastric sleeve is like starting all over.

But I was very happy to be going to the beach, for the first time in years as not obese. I needed new swim wear, so we went to a clothes shop and bought new bikinis. Mom took this picture of me, and when I see it I am so happy that I had the weight loss surgery done. Life hasn`t been easy since the surgery, but I have good results. This is me at about 76 kilos:

Sure, there is still some fat on me, but I am working hard on achieving my goals. I still have about 10-15 kilos to lose, but I am getting there, slowly but surely.

Gastric sleeve – down 42 lbs

I am trying to blog from my new computer that I just bought. We have had some trouble with it, but hopefully this goes well.

On October 6th it will be 3 months since my gastric sleeve surgery. I have lost 42 lbs so far and I am happy about that of course, but my oh my have I had pains and complications too. Everything from daily vomiting & dumping to a stomach ulcer. I really don`t know if I would recommend this surgery to others. It really is a life changing thing. You may never be able to eat a normal portion of food again, or drink and eat at the same time.

At 95 kilos, I was very miserable about my body, but I was caught up in this “fat acceptance” thing. I thought I was healthy, I was just fat. Little did I know that my bladder problems were caused by the weight, also extremely high cholesterol and dangerously high blood pressure, and being pre-diabetic as well.

Now I am a completely different person. The bladder problems have gone away, I no longer have high blood pressure or high blood sugar levels. The cholesterol is still a bit high, but nothing that needs to be medicated according to my doctor. And I still have lots of lbs to lose.

A very good thing is that I am travelling with my mother to Turkey in 3 weeks. So there will be lots of blogging coming up from our out & about there, lots of restaurant reviews and so on. And it will be the first time in a LONG time that I will be going to the beach without being OBESE! I have bought new swimwear, and I have the scars from the surgery, but I will simply be enjoying myself. So stay around for that. Lots of love to all and here is a picture of me from yesterday in my new dress (I keep buying new clothes as I go down in size…):

Dinner with family at Dolly Dimple`s

We really had a great time at Dolly Dimple`s, Sotra, celebrating my nephew`s birthday.

We ordered two large pizzas, but of course my “STOP button” hit after only half a slice. So I stopped eating, while the others enjoyed the food. This is why I am losing weight. You can read more about the STOP button I have developed after gastric sleeve surgery here: Portion control and the STOP button

I really like dining out and being able to eat normal food, even though I can only eat small portions. The experience at Dolly Dimple`s was great and I will give it a 8,5 out of 10 on my review.
